Day Forty-Five

The Twins…
I would really like to get a good photo of these two instead of a shot taken from inside a vehicle and through a windshield (which this one was), but one would have to literally stop traffic and get out of their car to get a decent shot.
There really is not a good place to pull the car over and I don’t think I would attempt to stand out on the side of the road and try to take a picture. To the left of the road is a pretty good drop off and to the right – there is a building that blocks your view. So you’re pretty limited to where you could be and not only see them, but not get run over!
In the summer the two somewhat resemble a Fraiser Fir, but then in the fall they turn brown and look dead, so I’m guessing they aren’t part of the pine family though they don’t ever really look like they have leaves on them either…
Anyway, despite being shot through a car window – their color AND the color of the sky are fairly accurate in this shot. Maybe I can get another one in the summer when they are green again…we shall see…
Nope didn’t forget….

Day Twenty-Four

I see this squirrel nest every time I walk down the driveway to get the mail.
Tonight I thought the sky was just right to try to get a shot decent of it.
This is with the trusty camera phone. No sign of any squirrels though – guess they were inside it staying warm!
Day Eighteen

Had the brilliant idea today to take a photo of the same thing every week – so I can document how much it changes. (This also gives me something to photograph each week – which is getting increasingly difficult when one doesn’t go very many places…)
This is our Crepe Myrtle which is not the prettiest thing right now, but gets some gorgeous flowers on it in the summer. The plan – right now – is to take a photo of it each Friday to see how it does through the coming seasons. BTW – to the right — is Sylvester, Tinker and Felix. Not ONE of them would look at me when I called to them. Stubborn kitties!
Day Fifteen

Okay – this is not a photo taken today. I have a bad migraine and have been fighting it all day.
Decided instead I would share a photo from last year. This is one of two baby deer that were out in the pasture one evening. I never could get a decent shot of the two together. The mother seemed to know I was there, but lingered long enough for me to get a couple of shots before they she led them away.

I’m still filling in for another Pet Sitter today and this sign was on a client’s garage. When I took the shot – the whole sign was in the frame, but I guess the phone had to size it down some to send it. NOT my best shot – by far – but did remind me of riding in my parent’s station wagon when I was little and stopping for gas at a full-service station.
Remember when the guy would come out and not only pump your gas for you, but clean your windshield and check your oil too? Maybe that is what people use to call “the good ole days”? Seems like a 100 years ago…..
Day Eleven

Had a moment to go outside and play with the Nikon again so this is a shot from it. This is a crepe myrtle that is dormant at the moment. I like the contrast between the dark branches and the gray sky. This would probably have been a neat shot in black and white, but since I’m still learning how the camera works – special effects will have to wait!

Snag
I am filling in for a Pet Sitter this week and each day as I stand outside while the dogs run around the client’s yard – my attention lands on this tree. It is the only tree snag in the yard and I can’t help but wonder why the tree died and why the owner hasn’t cut it down. If it ever falls it will take out the fence – hopefully not on my “watch” if it does (knock on wood…dead wood as it were…Ha-Ha)…only two more visits for me…until the other Pet Sitter returns…
