I need to research this, but this bird is either a turkey buzzard or a vulture. I pulled into a driveway to turn around and at the time it was on the ground. Wasn’t real scared of my vehicle, but it finally flew up on top of this old snag. One of these days – I would like to get a photo of one with my Nikon. They are a fascinating bird – even if there eating habits are a bit unpleasant to think about.

This shot shows the face and nails better, but it also has a blurry (Matrix?) kitty partially in the background. Thought you might be interested in seeing a different angle though, so just ignore the silly kitty in the background who doesn’t know the saying “Curiosity killed the cat…”

I took this last night and it would have been my shot for the day, but I had already posted the other one!
This snapping turtle wandered out onto our driveway. The cats were most curious about him….I was afraid one of them was going to find out why they call them SNAPPING turtles…but they seemed to sense this was something they didn’t reeealllyyy want to mess with. A few of them smelled the tail, but luckily none of them tried to go nose to nose with him!

I had to hold the camera up and just take a shot without knowing what I was taking…LOL…because I’m a bit too short to get up that high even on my tip toes!
I liked this shot though — even got a bit of bokeh going on and I wasn’t even trying!

Okay…so you’re thinking “what is it I’m suppose to be looking at???”
Look to the left and find the pine tree down at the bottom of the picture. Go up to the top of it and then just a little to the right.
That hard to make out brownish black thing is a TURKEY BUZZARD!!!
I was trying to get a shot of it on the ground, but it got scared and flew off — I just barely got it in the shot at all!
Taken with the camera phone… while… sitting in the Jeep… on the road!!!
I’m impressed! (with the camera phone yet again) — just the fact that it is not 100% blurred is a good thing!!!
